How to Display Your Minifigure Collection (Without the Dust)

By Ryan Smith, FigForge · Updated October 2026

A good display turns a box of figures into something people actually stop and look at. You don't need much money or space — just a few simple rules.

1. Start with a theme

Displays look best when they tell a story. Group figures by world (all your armoured heavies together), by colour (a rainbow row looks great on a shelf) or by role (swordsmen on one level, gunners on the next). Our ready-made squads are built this way, so five figures already look like a team.

2. Give them height

A single flat row hides the figures at the back. Use risers — small steps or tiered stands — so every figure is visible. Bulky figures with big shoulder armour or wings go at the back or the ends; slim figures with long swords go in front.

3. Pick the right home

4. Keep dust and sun off

Dust is the enemy of a good display. A soft make-up brush or a can of compressed air every few weeks is enough. Keep figures out of direct sunlight — strong sun can fade printed colours over time, especially bright reds and yellows.

5. Add light

A small USB LED strip under the shelf above makes metallic armour and printed details pop, and looks great in photos and videos.

6. Leave room to grow

Collections grow fast. Leave gaps in each row for new drops — or plan your next shelf with our shelf builder, which works out the bundle price for you.
